Oncology Massage
Focused on comfort, calm and helping you feel a little more like YOU again.
“Cancer may be a part of your journey, but it does not define your destination.”
Helrica Was Created With Purpose
The name “Helrica” comes from:
“Hel” from Helena, “Rica” inspired by Helena’s dear friend Erica and her cancer journey
Supporting Erica through cancer changed Helena’s life forever.
It made her always focus on what truly matters.
Kindness ♡ Time ♡ Compassion ♡ Connection.
That experience — alongside Helena’s work as a Macmillan Support Buddy — became the heart behind Helrica Massage Clinic.
Because nobody should go through difficult moments feeling unsupported or alone.
“Life is too short.”
One of the biggest things Helena says she has learned from supporting people through cancer is this:
Life is precious.
Wear what you want to wear.
Make the memories.
Sing. Dance. Laugh loudly.
Say yes to the things that matter.
Do what makes you happy.
Because none of us truly know what is around the corner.
Sometimes during illness, treatment, exhaustion and overwhelm, people forget themselves a little.
Helena created Helrica to help people reconnect with comfort, confidence, calm and the person underneath all the appointments, hospital letters and worry.
At Helrica Massage Clinic, this is about far more than massage.
It is about being listened to.
Being supported.
Being cared for and having somewhere safe to simply exhale for a while.
Whether you are currently going through treatment, recovering afterwards, living with fatigue, struggling emotionally, or adjusting to changes in your body, Helena offers gentle, adapted support centred around you as a whole person — not just a diagnosis.
Because sometimes during illness and treatment, people can lose themselves a little.
Helrica was created to offer calm, comfort and support during those moments.
What is Oncology Massage?
Oncology massage is a specialised form of massage carefully adapted for people affected by cancer.
Treatments are always tailored around:
Your diagnosis
Your treatment plan
Your fatigue levels
Your pain or sensitivity
Your lymphatic concerns
Your emotional wellbeing
How you are feeling that particular day
This is not deep tissue massage. This is gentle, calming support designed to help your nervous system slow down and your body feel safe again.
You do not need to know what to say or how to “be.”
You are welcome exactly as you are.
More than “just an appointment”
Appointments at Helrica are intentionally unhurried.
Helena believes people deserve time.
Time to slow down.
Time to breathe.
Time to talk if they need to.
Time to simply be cared for without feeling rushed.
Some clients need silence.
Some need reassurance.
Some simply need someone who understands.
You are never expected to “put on a brave face.”
This is a space where you can arrive exactly as you are.
Recognised for compassionate support
In May 2026, Helena was honoured to receive a Macmillan Star Volunteer award in recognition of the care, compassion and support she brings to people navigating cancer journeys.
Supporting others through difficult moments in life is at the heart of everything Helrica stands for.
Every session is adapted individually and professionally around your needs.
Helena is trained in oncology massage and understands the importance of safe, thoughtful care throughout every stage of the cancer journey. A place where you are nurtured, supported and heard. Helrica Massage Clinic is not about “fixing” people. It is about helping people feel supported through some of life’s most difficult moments.
"Being surrounded by the right circle of women is the biggest life upgrade!"
Some Appointments Are About More Than Massage
Sometimes you simply need:
A safe space - Calm human connection - Reassurance - Quietness - Somewhere you do not need to explain everything
At Helrica, you are welcome to arrive exactly as you are.
There is no pressure to "hold it together" here.

Questions people often ask
-
Oncology Massage is a gentle, adapted form of massage designed specifically for people living with cancer, recovering from treatment, or adjusting to life after a cancer diagnosis.
Unlike a standard massage, Oncology Massage takes into account your diagnosis, treatment history, medications, symptoms and how you are feeling on the day. Every treatment is carefully adapted to ensure it is safe, comfortable and appropriate for your individual circumstances.
Many clients choose Oncology Massage to help them relax, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, ease muscular tension, and enjoy some time focused entirely on their wellbeing.
At Helrica Massage Clinic, there is no "standard" treatment. Some clients prefer a full-body treatment, while others may only feel comfortable with specific areas being treated. The pressure, positioning and treatment plan are always tailored around your needs.
The aim is not to treat cancer itself, but to provide a safe, supportive space where you can relax, feel cared for, and reconnect with yourself during what can be an incredibly challenging time.
Every person, every diagnosis and every journey is different, which is why every Oncology Massage treatment is different too.

-
I’d be more surprised if you didn’t. This is a safe, supportive space where you are welcome exactly as you are. You are safe here to be YOU.
-
Of course you can. Some people talk, some people cry, some people simply rest quietly. I will always take my lead from you.
-
That is absolutely fine too. Every appointment is tailored around how you feel that particular day.
-
Your comfort, modesty & safety are always the priority. Treatments are adapted completely around what feels comfortable for you.
To get the most out of your massage and to protect your bra from oil, clients normally dress down to just their pants - such as Bridget Jones pants or cycling shorts.
If you are not comfortable with this please do not worry, I can always just move bra straps out of the way when completing the back/arm portion of the massage if that is an area we include in your treatment.
-
At any point during your appointment we can absolutely pause or take a break.
This is your time and treatments are always adapted around how you are feeling that day.
-
That is completely okay.
Treatments can pause at any time and we can adapt things around how you are feeling in that moment.
This is a calm, supportive and private environment where there is never any pressure to “push through.”
-
Absolutely.
Cancer treatment, appointments, fatigue and daily life can all affect how you feel physically and emotionally.
I like to personally arrange appointments with clients so treatments can work around what is realistically manageable for you.
-
We will always discuss planned treatment with your consultant and medical team before beginning treatment where needed.
Helena can also provide a letter for you to forward to your consultant if required.
When you contact Helena she will explain if this is needed.
-
Yes you can & if anything this is often when people need support the most.
Oncology massage can help people feel calmer, more relaxed and sleep better during difficult periods of treatment and recovery.
-
Absolutely. Cushions and pillows can be used for support and you are very welcome to lie on your side during treatment if needed.
-
I ask everyone to allow up to 2 hours for their appointment so there is never any pressure or rushing.
-
Yes. Blankets and towels are always available throughout treatment to help you feel warm, safe, comfortable and fully covered during your appointment.
Your dignity and comfort are always a priority.
-
Of course.
I personally check in with clients after treatments and you are always welcome to contact me if you need support, reassurance or have questions following your appointment.
